Help choosing the correct computer.

Hi, basically I want a new computer but not sure what to get. First off my budget is £420 and I can buy from anywhere in the UK.

I would be using the computer for things like HD Movies, programs like Sony Vegas Pro 9, Photoshop CS4, Adobe After Affects etc

I'd also be using my Hauppuage HD PVR with it, below are the sytem requirements it needs;

* Processor Requirements (minimum):
o Dual core CPU.
* Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32/64bit), Vista (32/64bit) or Windows XP Service Pack 3.
* Graphics with 256MB memory (or greater)
Note: the playback of high definition H.264 requires a fast CPU and at least 256MB of graphics memory.
* Sound card.

I'm not sure if it is good enough for what it want to do.

So just again, I will only really using it to browse the internet, use programs like Photoshop, rendering 720p videos in Sony Vegas and for my HD PVR. It also has to be able to play in HD for things like videos on YouTube.

Sorry I don't too much about computers. Any advice? Is that computer good/bad, if not, what should I get which will suit the things I will use it for? Thanks.
 
OH MY GOD NO ! do not buy a medion they are cheap computers, but there warranty isn`t worth the paper its on and their customer service is a disgrace, my uncle got a medion from aldi just over a year ago, and its been back and forward like a yoyo, they claim they are entitled to use refurbished identical components for replacement, my uncles first return was only months after buying the pc brand new, and they replaced his brand new motherboard with an old well used one all the solders were faded had to be at least 2 year old and they think thats ok STEER WELL CLEAR OF MDEION.

The Medion's Graphics aren't very good.
Check out this, will give better overall performance, a quad core CPU (useful for photo/video editing) and the dedicated Graphics it comes with will be a whole lot more powerful than the HD graphics in the Medion.

EDIT: A soundcard isn't essential, but here's a decent cheap one: Xonar DG
the step above that would be the Xonar DS, and finally the DX

And fastdude, it looks good but it costs almost £500 with the operating system.

Not sure if it's good or not, but it's £302.35 inc VAT with Windows 7 Premium 64 bit.

Now, I don't know much but I always thought 64 bit was better than 32? If so how come Windows 7 64 bit is £5 than 32?

Will the computer I linked be able to meet the Hauppauges requirements (in first post) and run the programs I want? As well as watching films and videos on YouTube in HD? Thanks.
 
are you ok with only getting oem version of windows thats what you get with your above pc, and yes 64 bit is better than 32 but only if you have 4gb ram or higher, any less than 4gb and 64 wont give you any extra.
 
Not sure what the OEM version is so I will give it a miss :D.

The one you linked looks good actually.

Will I be able to watch films in HD and run the programs I want to smoothly? And are the specs good enough to run the Hauppauge (in first post)?

yes defo, its a dual core as specified and it runs at 3ghz which is high end dual core, its win 7 64, and graphics card way above requirements, certain it will meet and exceed your requirements.

Do I need some special monitor to watch films in HD, if so, what type? Thanks again and I can only appologize for knowing so little.

oh yes, you will need an hd capable screen to view in hd something similar to below.

although if your budget can stretch to it, id go for a full hd tv, instead of just a monitor.
