Help. Computer Gif

hi i'm trying to turn a music video into a gif.
like a little part of it.
and it has a different codec and is not opening into imageready.
how do i do it!

wouldn't you need to capture the pictures out of the video in some picture format and then transfer those into a gif? I've never done this stuff myself but it seems to make more sense that way
