Help!! CPU Fan stopped??

Hi All.

Woke up this morning (not half n hour ago) and turned on my computer (in my sig below) to finish a download while I was at work...

When POSTing heard a series of three may four beep/clicks. So I turned it off, I turned it on again and I noticed right after POST just about where it starts to boot Vista my CPU Fan stops spinning (I had the side panel off at the moment)...

It then continues to load into Vista with the fan stationary but twitching every second or so..

I panic'ed and turned it off, tried again and the same thing happened... So here I am at work posting this hopeing to get some insight for tonight when I get home. Any ideas????

The weird thing is the fan spins to full speed during POST but then turns off?? What would have caused this? The only thing Ive done recently was put in a Cosair 650tx and my new HD4870 but that was maybe a month ago now and no problems.

????

Cheers

That's not good. Try plugging it to another fan connection on ur mobo or try plugging it to psu. If it still doesn't work check the cpu cooler on another pc if u have one. Only other guess is maybe ur psu can't handle all of what u are running.

I was told that a 650tx would power two hd4870's and a Q9450 (when I get it) at the moment Im only running one.

Theres more that one fan connector on my mobo? Ill have a look. Lucky I just looked up the site where I got my computer and I have a three year warranty so I can always get a new chip/fan.

I was wondering if now a days fans/cpu have like a power saving feature where the fan turns off, and I just havnt noticed before.. But yeah your reply indicates its not.

If my fan is died etc, why would it spin up then stop? Surely if it died or whatever it wouldnt go at all??

Whats that and how do I change it?

Also why would it be working last night (play crysis etc) and not in the morning?

Bump! lol Sorry but yeah hopeing to fix this tonight, anymore ideas.

On a side note how easy is it to transfer a Zalman 9700 from chip to chip.

Epic false alarm lol.

Seems that cool n quiet thing is it and Ive just never noticed before haha, the random beeps (which havnt happened since) just made me pay attention to what my computer does when it turns on haha.

Basically the fan started when it got into Vista lol.

Cheers though.

Because the CPU was loaded with more applications, thus heating it up, thus making... Cool n' Quiet/SMART Fan to increase the fan speed (by upping the voltage). Congrats!
