Help crossfire 4670

You can run a higher end model of the same card, it'll just go to waste, as the stronger card will downclock itself to act identical to the weaker card. Another thing to keep in mind is that Xfire does NOT utilize the memory of the second card. So if you run 512mb x 1gb you still only get 512mb of usable VRAM. same goes for 512mb x 512mb, you get the idea.

I don't think i have the option of being able to crossfire these two cards though. That does kinda suck it does'nt add to it .

I guess they are using crossfire in new way now??
So if i wanted the 1gig to work I would have to but another 1gig card?
I don;t think they even sell the 512 version anymore i hate to buy one used.

I was just wanting to use these 4670's because I only have a 550w psu and I not wanting to push it. I probably need to just buy a 4870 or so and get it over with huh?

two 4670's is all i need and lower power usuage is a plus

all right i have a 1 gig that says it is crossfire supported but does not have the tabs like my 512. So if i were to aquire another 1gig version then these two would work??

having a 128bit interface is this equal to a 256bit in crossfire??

appreciate the help

That card simply isn't Crossfire Ready.

Not sure why Newegg would imply that, but the pictures
clearly show, no Crossfire pins.

These cards are almost identical, except one isn't Crossfire.

You can run 4670s in Crossfire without a bridge (Software Mode). Dont really know if you take a performance hit ( would not think much of a hit with 4670s) But you dont really need the bridge, it will still run in Crossfire.

From even HIS
Dual mode ATI CrossFireXTM multi-GPU support for highly scalable performance (Software Crossfire)

alright i have both cards hooked up and now i am trying to figure out how to turn on crossfire. i went into catalst control but there is not anything for crossfire. any ideas ?? thanks

I got it figured out.
I had to remove both cards and switch this 128m thing to 8x+8x.
I also installed the card on top that did not have the tabs for crossfire.
I had to completely delete the drivers for this and reinstall then as it was configuring it popped up a box that ask if I wanted to enable crossfire.

So it working much to my relief that I do not have get another card.

I noticed that I have a very strong smell after hooking all this up. I was wondering if i was overpowering my PSU or something. Well I started smelling around it and trying to isolate it. I thought that I better shut it off before I see smoke. I found out what the smell was but ti is kinda embarassing that all it was my dad cooking a lasangna. I swear it smells electrical!

that was by bright moment of the day
