Help Deciding RAM vs Processor

Hey guys i'm looking to purchase a new mac book pro and have a dilemma. My price now is already over 2K and these next two things I can't decide on. My processor power or more RAM. Now I have 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 going into it or I can upgrade to a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 for another $200. Or I can change my 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB to a 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB for another $400. Now I want to add one of them but cant afford both. My main use for this book is gonna be general web browsing, music, etc but also running programs like photoshop, dreamweaver, flash etc doing web development and few other coding programs for lets say coding games etc. Now which of those two upgrades would be best for me. Would more processor power be the way to go or doubling my RAM?

Unless one of your applications specifically benefits from 8GB of RAM, then neither of the upgrades are worthwhile. $400 and $200 respectively are ridiculous. There won't be a perceptible difference in processor speed. 4GB of RAM is more than enough for most programs.

Alright appreciate the comment.. and I'm running on only 512mb ram now so sure the 4 is gonna be more then enough. My processor is 3.6ghz now but like you said I figured the .2ghz more wasn't gonna be anything to worry about. Thanks for the comment.

I agree with this, the prices aren't easily justifiable. For yours usage the processor should fly anything that you throw at it, and 4GB of RAM will be plenty if the extent to your editing of graphics is Photoshop, and not video editing (Programs like Houdini). In terms of your web development, dreamweaver isn't overly reliant on hight end specifications depending on the version
