Help deciding which cpu to upgrade to

Right now I have an AMD 3200+ and I was wondering if I should upgrade to the 3500+ venice core, or wait to get a dual core or AMD2?

What exactly is the differnce between the venice core and the clawhammer that I have now? Will it be better for gaming?

The venice core has a smaller processor unlike the other AMD counterparts the Venice Core uses the 90nm Process. it also introduces the sse3 instructions, same as intel on their prescott processors. but the speed advantages will be fairly small as some programs do not use this style of code. The last major difference is the voltage it uses the Venice core only uses 1.4v of power where other AMD processors use about 1.5 or 1.6v.

But having said that the newcastle chips are dual channel memory which should make it fairly quicker.

Clawhammers are from AMD 3000 and up. there are no X64 Type processors and have fake counter part from newcastle with only half of the memory available.

You can wait for the AMD2 its going be worth the extra money. If you want a Dual-Core get one that will last you a couple of months. IE spend the money wisley. Its up to you

I managed to buy an AMD Athlon Dual core 3900+ for around £90. and i have found no reason fto sell it. I have the ability to OC it to about 2.9GHZ which is okay but thats with a water block.

Personally get the Dual-Core it will be better value for money. and you can multitask.

hope this helps

You won't notice much of a difference, if at all, from a 3200 to a 3500.

Save your money.

Btw, your sig says your "current build" is spec'd much higher.

Is that the system you are going to build?
