so i just got a new graphics card x800xl and i upgraded from a nvidea geforce fx 5200. now i have been having some problems wiht some games like battlefield 2 and half life 2.

my question is, do i have to uninstall my old nvideo geforce fx5200 driver and then install my x800 xl driver for it to work properly.

and if so how do i uninstall the old driver, thanks!

Whenever you swap out video cards you first remove the original drivers and softwares if going from NVidia to ATI or going with a model too far separate from the first. ATI Catalyst drivers work on several models as a rule. There are removal tools that come with the software disk as well as at the NVidia support site you can download. These totally remove any NVidia drivers. ATI also has them for their various models. The installer can also be used by selecting the uninstall option on the original disk.

The usual and easy way is to simply go into the add/remove programs area found in the control panel to click on the remove button there. To verify that those are totally removed you can go into the device manager later to open the display adapters section and right click on the model card if seen to choose the uninstall option.
