HELP...dual slot

i just bought a 7900gtx and when i went to instlal it into my alienware case i encountered a problem. Where i am supposed to have the pci ports stick out of the back of the case (that little metal frame thingy with like 7 spaces) it wont let me install a dual slot card. There is a little metal arch thingy that prevents me from having the card go flush against the frame thingy and therfore instal it. Plz help

I know what your talking about, the individual extra pci slots are there, so your card cant fit into it because theres a piece of metal in the way.

Try cutting it off with a precision saw or a dremel.

ROFL!!! i wouldn't do that if i were you

It's just a piece of metal. And make sure all your stuff it out of the case, you might get metal trimmings on the mobo.

There is an alternative though, new case I guess.

oh i get it now,

sure, you can cut that out, just watch out for the little pieces of metal, try to remove eveything from the case before u do it

The thing that runs through my mind is the fact that the card will not be supported well because it will not fit perfectly from the back side of the case, and will have no support for it to rest on.

I honestly don't think my idea will work, come to think of it, unless you do some crazy modding.

I don't know if this will be any better, but depending on how thick the metal is, you could try tin snips. They might not make as many metal particles.

But the fact of the stability an weight of th card leaning downwards with no support aside from the pci-e slot still remains. What if the pci-e connector snapped off the card due to the weight? Thats why modding would need to be done.
