Help finding a laptop

Looking for a desktop replacement for gaming

Budget $1000-$2000

Games: Starcraft II, Team Fortress 2, MW Black Ops.

I built a gaming desktop a little while back, i7 920, gtx 295 etc etc, so I know a little about the hardware I am just completely lost on laptops.

I was wondering what a good brand would be, I had a Sager before and it worked fine for awhile but the mobo did end up dying, granted it spent a year in Afghanistan (my new one will be spending a year in Afghanistan starting Feb also)

I was looking at this model,

Is this overkill for the games I play?
Is sager a reliable brand?
With a high end gaming laptop how much of a concern is overheating?
If it is a great concern what cooler should I get?

On my current desktop I play at 1920x1200 at full settings and I would like to keep it about the same for the laptop.

Thank you in advance for all your help and comments.

I hear Asus also make some good gaming laptops. I don't know too much about them as i deal with desktops.

This seems to be the ASUS equivalent. The Sager is just a little bit more expensive and has the xfire cards, so it seems the edge is to sager, what do you guys think??

Also can anyone suggest a good reseller?? Xoticpc has both the Asus and the Sager, anyone good anything good or bad for Xoticpc???

Thanks again

That Asus 18.4" with GT335m is not high end enough!!!!!

Check out Asus G73JH / G73JW instead

The sager you link in first post would the fastest as it has dual 5870

I see Sager used a lot in made to order sites, but I haven't played on one. I do hear Sager, as well as Asus, Lenovo, and Acer are top names in laptops. Might get one in the future, but i'd try to get crossfire or sli configured gpu cards due to the fact the performance is a bit less than desktop gpu's. 18.4" is a very big screen though, you are very well off with that.

Remember that you can check the specs of what these games will do best on, don't expect miracles on a laptop though. For the most part, Nvidia offers more choices with mobile gpu's so your choices are limited if you want to go with ATi for graphics. According to my research, the best mobile gpu's are crossfired 5870's or sli'd gtx480/460. Here are some mobile gpu benchmarks for your own comparison. Good luck.

Also keep in mind that a 5870M is equal to desktop 5770 card. that's probably good enough for most games anyway.

i personally like sonys, even thought they are not gaming laptops, they have some pretty nice specs.

for under 1500 you can get
i7, 4gb ram (upgrade it urself to 8gb :)), Nvidia 435M, and 500gb 7200rpm HDD, 1080p screen

of course this isnt the best gaming laptop out there, but sony's build quality is very good and its not super bulky :)

but if you are not into that you should look for something with more bulk/better specs.

Toshiba Cosmios are good for that :D
