Help Getting Server Running

Hi,

I'm building 4 computers for a server, or at least trying to. Here's the hardware:

Intel E3 1245 v2
Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-O
Kingston 8gb PC3 10600 240 pin
Corsair CX430 PSU
WD 1TB Black HDD

I connected everything in a 2U case, plugged it in, and pushed the power button. Nothing happened. There is an LED on the motherboard that lights up when the power supply is connected to the outlet. Other than that, there is no response.

I first tried a new PSU (same model, just from another working computer) and that did not solve the problem. Then I switched out the motherboard. Still nothing. Then I switched out the CPU. Still nothing. Then I switched the ram. Still nothing. I must be doing something wrong here, becuase at this point I have replaced every part lol. I confirmed that the power button works on the case too, and also tried manually starting the computer each time by connecting the jumper pins on the mobo.

Does anyone have an idea on how to get this thing on? Am I completly missing something about server motherboards?

Did you put in the brass standoff when building? Your motherboard may be shorting against the cases.

So no response at all? No fans or lights or anything?

All of those little standoff pieces were installed in the case. No fans start at all. Not on the PSU or case.

Extra info: the led that comes on is LE4, which the mobo manual says is for 'power standby' which i guess just means the system is receiving power.

If it's wrong then you probably installed it incorrectly and may have damaged your motherboard. What did you have at first, what did you replace it with, and what's the motherboard?

Well, it was DDR3, the socket and everything fit. It was just ecc registered, and I needed unbuffered instead.

Glad you got it up and running. Those SuperMicro Motherboards are very picky with memory. I have a SuperMicro X8SAX and it took me a 1 week to figure out why it wasn't posting and found out it was the ram. Last build I'm doing with SuperMicro :P
