Hello!
Please read the posts here.
It's all there I am sure the reason is there...and the solution.
Just skip the first post it's just some fool acting smart.

service packs

hi, thanks very much for your help. i followed the link which recommends to download a service pack from microsoft. do you know which service pack i need and how do i download it. just tried 3 and 4 from microsoft and nothing happens...

With due respect Sir ( that's sth what I always wanted to say!), I think it would be the same. In that forum I posted a link to a guy with IE had the same problem, meaning reinstalling Firefox wouldn't help...as it's equal to getting a new browser...
Anyway I can't be sure so...

i have windows XP and have just installed all updates recommendedand service packs - although SP3 won't download and install?? quicksilverscreen still isn't working andshuts down firefox when i try to watch anything. i've reinstalled firefox, reinstalled activeX, reinstalled dvix player and web converter.....about to start screen smashing.....aaarrrggggghhhhh please help!

As of right now if you have XP SP3 is just in beta, so I would not install it yet but you need SP2 installed.

hi again, i appreciate your help on this... SP2 is installed and still the same thing happens...? the weird thing is that quicksilverscreen worked fine for months then just started doing this all of a sudden.

it might be either your operating system currupted or ur browser having some problem, you should try to reinstall them....
