HELP! I cant fun EXE files!

Hello, A few days ago my laptop somehow got the 'security tool' virus. I had 'ad aware' on my computer which I believe got fir of the virus, but now I cannot run any exe. files. So I cannot do a system restore or open any downloads. My laptop came with windows XP preinstalled and I do not have the installation discs. Someone please help!!! Thank you!
 
By "security tool" virus, do you mean the fake AntiVirus software?

Try booting into safe mode and running Malwarebytes AntiMalware software.
