It says your DNS server is 192.168.0.254. If you are just networking your home computers, you can always set static IPs and avoid using DNS names.

You're looking for "IP Address" and not "DNS Number".

If this is local on your home network then you can use jack-PC or 192.168.0.110 from the other computer.

My network is used in company, currently still unable to fix my ip. i set my ip as below:

IP : 192.168.0.110
subnet mask :255.255.255.0
Default gateway:192.168.0.254

Preferred DNS server: 192.168.0.254
alternate DNS :Blank

My connection is modem connect to switch and switch connect all computer.

after restart computer and modem, IP will be change. Is it my connetion got problem or wrongly DNS ?

Need your help urgent, thanks in advance.

If all you are wanting to do is share files then you don't need your dns number. All you need to do is enable sharing between computers. Can you please specify exactly what you are trying to do? What operating systems are you running on each of your systems?

Are you trying to share a file outside of your network? By that I mean, are you trying to share with someone who is connecting via the internet or is it another computer in your house/office/wherever you are?

thanks johnb35 and cromewell.

My OS is below
window 7 ultimate
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4130 CPU 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
2.00 GB (1.86 GB usable)
32-bit Operating System

My accounting software and Brother printer need the network to operate.

So you are trying to print to a network printer inside your house/office? I assume you've got the drives and such installed already? Can you ping the printers ip?

thanks Cromewell.

My problem is my computer can not fix the IP.
example :
-Today i setup connection to printer then i can use the printer to scan and ping the ip printer. All connection no problem.
-after several hours, i can not scan already. Scanner can not work.Bother printer have show our ID but it stop on connecting when doing scanning. sometime document will reach on wrong computer. i need to turn off the printer then it will work fine.
serious problem on software. have one computer be the main and other will be client, everytime client can not connect to the main computer.
What i know is computer IP always change automatic, so other device cannot connect to the computer.
Have any suggestion to fix my IP ?

Ok I think I understand. You have a printer connected to a machine whose IP address is rotating by DHCP?

If that's that case you need to connect to your router (DHCP server if it's not a home network where it's all on the same device) and configure the machine which is connected to the computer to have a static address. Alternatively, you could assign a static address on the machine itself so long as it's outside of the range DHCP will assign out.

On Windows 7 you'd do this by opening Local Area Network properties double click on "Internet Protocol Version 4" check the radio button to "Use the following IP address" then
"IP address" 192.168.0.110 (since this is what you had already, I assume you still do. Shouldn't cause any conflicts but if you get a duplicate IP warning change 110 to something else)
"Subnet Mask" 255.255.255.0
"Default Gateway" 192.168.0.254

"Preferred DNS Server" 192.168.0.254
