Hey, i just bough a new graphics card [xfx geforce 8600gts]
I have a pci-express slot in my e-systems computer. My computer meets all specs needed and am running on XP media edition.
Now, This is trouble...

I had an ati radeon xpress200 chipset. I uninstalled the software for that and went to disable it in the bios. I noticed the default setting was on the pci-e option. i have 3 options... pci, onboard and pci-e. i clicked the pci-e obviously and then shut off my computer and inserted my graphics card, now the manual said my computer would load and i would then instal the drivers, however... my monitor does not switch on AT ALL and goes into standby mode after i do this. After many trys... i tried the bios setting of pci. I logged in and still had a rather large display, but anyway... it started to recgnise things such as "pci - pci bridge" as new software etc etc. When i tried to instal the software from the cd for my nvidia card it said i was not using nvidia software.

I have no clue where im going wrong here... if someone could make a tutorial if possible on how to do this from scratch it would help im sure as the nvidia manuals.. [excuse my language] are SHIT!

Thanks for any help.

dont worry... i ddnt realise i had to have a monitor to dvi cable. LMAO. Might help if i had something plugged into my monitor. =]

Thanks anyway! This forum is a big help! [literally]
