Ok.

So its an internal.
should it go on like the bottom pci and expanson slot?

any tips on installing?

thanks

If you bought an internal pci type video capture card it will go into a pci slot by evenly pressing down on it after aligning it properly. If you have ever installed a sound card you shouldn't see any problems installing a different card. You just have to take the usual methods of antistatic protection by grabbing the case or laying your arms down on the bare metal to ground yourself when handling it.

The last slot is best if you have a sound card installed instead of using onboard. If the board has 3 slots there the sound card is often found in the second one instead of the first to avoid XP's resource sharing conflicts that can come up at times. This is why the 3rd slot would used for the new card. Just watch how you press down and align the part that goes down at the pci slot opening to avoid pressing that down too hard onto the edge of the board. You have to slip that down first and then carefully even off the card right above the slot itself. From there just carefully and evenly press the card down into the slot.

Well.
Its in right...i think

i downloaded the driver from the site, not the URL that wason the box.
But i installed it and restarted and theres no icon or anything showing its the product

It's pretty simple to install a PCI card.

Just insert it into an available PCI slot. If it doesnt work, try another slot. Use your imagination :)

Check in C:\program files
If not, you should've checked the path during the install because it should've notified you which path it would be installed in. Also, check your start menu.

It sounds more like you downloaded the drivers but forgot to install the software it should have come with! What make and model is it? That will help in finding what you should be seeing in the programs menu as well as any desktop shortcuts.

You should have had the Ultra TV or similar software disk along with the card. That's what allows you to configure the tuner and input sources. On the AverMedia 1500 Pro here the latest version of that comes with it. To capture video from an external analog source you would need the Cyberlink PowerDirector and PowerProducer software that now comes with their DVD EZMaker pci card.
(Funny the card never worked here while the 1500 tv tuner card was suddenly detected when the old NeoDVD capture/dvd burning software wouldn't!)

You should have had the included software disk come along with it. I would get in touch with the vendor it was ordered from and let them know about this right away. Submitting this to Aver to let them know you are missing the software that was supposed to be with it and providing order information may be needed. Otherwise you will have to pay for software you already paid for!

Ouch is correct! The model here is seen at http://www.aver.com/mpd/ultratv1500.html Newegg currently doesn't have the Ultra TV 1500 MCE model in stock at this time. That however came with the Ultra TV software. How else are you going to configure everything? The software that was supposed to be with it on cd!

The model you ordered from newegg is also seen at http://www.aver.com/mpd/pvr150wb.html Under RMA Proceedure you will find a lond distance phone number at http://www.aver.com/ppd/support/returnpolicy.html But you may want to see that returned to newegg right away for either exchange or refund since you should have had the software disk along with it. Hopefully it isn't past their return date for purchase. Otherwise you will have to order the software separately for the additional cost there.
