Help installing graphics card

I have taken out my old card and put in my new 6800GT, but when I switch the power on there is a very loud beep and windows does not load. Before turning the computer off I uninstalled the old card, but now (old card back in) I try and uninstall it it says it cannot because it needs it to startup windows.
On the new card there is a 4-pin slot which I did not plug anything into (didn't have this slot on the old card) could this be it, or is it something else?
HELP! :(

yea some of the newer high end cards need power directly from the psu, this is probably a 4 pin molex connector which u defintily have and then u plug it into the card. If that isnt it then make sure that the graphics card is properly installed and doesnt move around.

what make is your card? anyway, just like BSB says, for a 6800GT you have to connect the small cable that came with your 6800GT ;). you have to plug the cable on the card (probably a black 6-pin connector.) and the other end to your PSU. (it has the same connector as a Harddisc (at least, youll need to connect those cables)

ya, you need to plug in the power source for the video card (which is the same as your hard drives, cd drives, ect), hopefully you didnt damage the card or motheboard by not plugging it in.
