I am installing a HD into a new case. I am not exactly sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I need help on installing my new XP Home OEM.

Thanks,

Every case is different, but all should have screws to bolt the sides of the HD to the case. As far as installing XP, you need to boot off the cd by changing the bios settings. Let me know if you dont know how to do this.

Well first off what kind of case do you have?

some of the newer ones have brackets that screw on the HD...then slide the HD into the case...others screw right in to the case like mentioned above.

Just slide the drive in, and plug in the wires

As for the XP, go into the BIOS, find the boot order, and make sure it is set to go CD, Floppy, HDD. The turn your computer on, stick the CD in right away, and it should boot off of it, taking you into the setup.

Could not possibly give you an intelligent answer to this as I dont even know what type of HD it is ;-). Please give more information. Whay type of hard drive is it? SATA? etc. Is this a secondary drive? Is it going to become your primary drive? is it a third drive?.

Yes more info is indeed needed here, the actual physical mounting in the case should not be much of a problem.
Not knowing if it's a Sata or Pata drive or the desired Master/Slave settings is worse.

I will get all the info right now I can tell you it is going to be the primary HD it is an Enhanced IDE HD. Will this be enough info?
