Help-Is this computer good for gaming??

Looking to buy a gaming computer & found this listed for sale. They say the system is about a ear old & selling it for $300 with no monitor.

the 7600GT video card handles Left4Dead 2 but won't handle GTA IV... at all.
for gaming you'd be disappointed.

Linkin- If you are going to spend that much on a graphics card, couldn't you get a DX10 card with similar or more performance? I mean...

They support it, but won't be able to use it. Look at games with DX11: BF:BC2, DiRT 2, F1 2010, MoH, Civ 5.

None of those games would be playable in DX11 qwith either of the cards listed because they don't have the power for it, they aren't deisgned for gaming, and won't be able to in the latest DX11 games. The only thing DX11 is with those cards is a marketing point, it is like integrated graphics that "support DX10.1 " they may be able to use the technology, in theory, but in practice, they won't

@Linkin, no need to spend that much on mobo, or that much on a not very good video card (like Skyline posted, you are paying for DX11, when it can't actually use DX11), and there is never, ever a reason to get a PSU that comes with a case, especially a cheap brand case like that. Only things worse are CPU, however that can have the multiplier raised to be the same frequency, and less memory

@OP, that extra $40 makes a hell of a difference. The video card is a hell of a lot better, CPU is also much better, memory is better, power supply is better.

However, it isn't as a good a deal all round. You don't get an OS with that, or keyboard + mouse, which you do with the build you were offered. But the build that you were offered for $300, isn't a gaming build at all, at least not for modern games. You would have to add on $100 to the budget for the OS, and another $30 or so for kb + mouse if you need them, and that is for a very basic gaming set up, that won't last too long at all so far as modern games go
