help! major problem!!

My board says it supports core 2 duo, and i just put a c2d processor in the socket. The socket has pins on it, but the c2d has little circular pads. When i put in in the socket (the correct orientation) it fits right in, then when i put the locking lever/cover on it, it won't lock, am i suppose to force the lever down into the locking arm? Will i hear a sound if the processor is set in right? HELP!!

Just for clarification, what is the model motherboard?

Double check and make sure the notches line up, once it fits in easily, it will take a bit of pressure to push the lever down and lock it in place.

I had to give mine a bit of pressure. Make sure that the processor is in the right way before giving it some pressure.
