i am trying to make the best computer possible with a very limited budget of $100-200. i know its going to be nothing fancy, and i accept that. A list of parts i should buy with the appropriate link will be GREAT . This computer is out from scratch by the way, i dont have any parts. I know this is a bit of work... but to all those who are willing to help me out, THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE.

EDIT: i have a keyboard, mouse, monitor and OS

If you need a monitor,Keyboard,Mouse,OS It's going to be terrible unless you go linux.

thank you both for the suggestions.

i think i might go with the barebone deal that vix suggested, just because of how convenient it is to get it in one pack, probably comes with instructions, dont need to get cable converter etc. BUTTT i am still open to other ideas So by all means, if you have a suggestion of your own, i would love to hear it. again thank you both

one question, vix's bare bone deal comes with AMD A64 X2 5000+ 2.60GHz Black Edition Retail as the processor. is AMD A64 par with the newest processor technology now days? or is it like pentium 4 generation?

I don't have a business but will build it for no extra cost and then ship it to you (your expence). Total cost of $230 for parts and shipping. Warning: unless if you go with Linux, you have no OS (operating System). If I build it, I can include a Linux OS for you and install it.

the barebone deal does not come with a processor fan, but you can get them for pretty cheap. you'll need one. Quad core processors are the newest right now, that's a dual core

If you are only willing to spend that much, you may want to consider a pre-built PC. When it comes to gaming rigs, building is by far the better choice. But sometimes you can find really good deals on pre-built PC's, that can be used for every day tasks.

thanks for the heads up. i had no idea and would have probably installed nothing on the processor.

really? i never see such a deal on a prebuilt computers.. if you go to frys, compusa etc, i never see any computers that good for $200. Can you direct me to a pre built computer that is that good if you see one please

If all you need is the tower go to best buy. If you walk usually to the back that is where you can find there cheaper computers and you can pick up a Dell or maybe a hp tower for little over 200$. But it won't be the fastest computer but it will last you a while and they do have the one year manufacture warranty.

I recommend garage sales, or their digital equivalent, eBay.

Speaking hypothetically, though, if every possible penny had to be pinched, we could go with this...

Motherboard/CPU/Graphics
RAM
PSU
Hard drive
Optical drive
Case

Total cost: $139

You should seriously consider upping your budget, though. A C3 processor is not good for much. If you're willing to go up to $199 (minus shipping and tax), you could instead have this, this, these, and this (same as the other HD but SATA instead of IDE).
