Help me Build Gaming Comp.

Hello,

I would like some advice on which parts o purchase in order to build my own computer, or alternately, a computer to buy at best buy or another major chain that would suffice and be similarily priced. My budget is 650 or under preferably.

I want it fast and with a lot of ram. It also needs to have a video card that can do pixel shader so I can play Black and White 2 and also Second Life online. I basically want to get something that will still be able to play the new games coming out in the next couple years. I also play Sims 2. I would also prefer a harddrive that is 150 GB or more. The Ram should probably be 1GB just to be safe. I prefer AMD and probably above 3400. Thanks in advance for any advice you have for me. Thanks! Also would it be cheaper to just buy a new computer and replace the video card? Esp. given that I need a monitor, preferably LCD 17"?

the video card.. this one is cheaper and seems the same, is it? What's the difference between the two? How do I know if they support pixel shader?

this one is even cheaper and can save me 15 bucks combined with Windows XP. Is it any good, or is it much worse than the other two?

the 17" Viewsonic was fine,he has a low budget remember.Go with either the 7600GS or the X800GTO.The X1300 is a piece of ****.Case is fine,but you need to find another way to ground it seeing as how its coated in plastic,so you need a grounder attatched while building.And no,you shuoldnt need more cooling unless you're overclocking.And most motherboards come with integrated sound.
 
what is grounding it? I mean its not on when I am building so I wouldn't have to worry about electrical currents would I? Is there another cheapish tower that you would recommend where I don't have to worry about this?

I would try to avoid rugs, but otherwise don't worry about it too much. Just touch an unpainted area of the case every once in a while to ground yourself. The inside of the case is unpainted, so it's fine.

Yes, electrostatic discharge can harm electronics even when they're off.
