Hi I want help building my first pc nothing to fancy just for minecraft and solidworks, I want it to be easily upgradable also. My only experience in pc building was i installed two new graphics cards into my dads pc and hooked them up onto two new monitors, So im not a complete newbie. Any suggestions?

The building process is fairly easy, all you'll need is a phillips screwdriver. When it gets to that point, we can definitely guide you in the correct way to assemble everything.

As for help with choosing parts, what's your budget look like? And what all are you looking to include in that budget? (Tower, Display, Accessories, etc?)

I don't know the exact requirements for SolidWork, but I have a friend who uses it for school on his laptop. It's an i7 with GTX650 and 16GB 1600 - so it's pretty decent, and he says it works just fine.
Since it never hurts with more cores, and the fact that you don't mind overclocking, I would recommend a build around the FX-6300 from AMD.

It would look something like this:
  • AMD FX-6300
  • Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
  • Kingsont HyperX 1600MHz 8-16GB
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB - with an SSD used for OS if budget allows it, but I suspect you'll need mass storage
  • Fractal Design Arc Midi R2
  • Corsair CX600M
  • Best graphics card available within your budget
  • Best CPU cooler available within the budget here as well, balanced against the GPU

My budget would be a maximum of about 660 usd but i dont mind going up to 700 and i want to get a monitor, mouse and keyboard with it. I seem to be able to run solidworks through vmare just fine on my current laptop and its a pretty useless laptop. How do you overclock also are the programs used expensive or are they free?

I think getting an SSD with a $700 budget that includes monitor and other accessories.
Windows 8 is generally a bit faster, but I still prefer Windows 7 :)
Overclocking is free, and it's done through the BIOS/EUFI.
Did some fast research on SolidWorks, and what it benefits from. Seems to be mainly CPU, but also GPU in some cases.
But my build should exceed your budget a bit, considering the monitor etc.
