Help me build my gaming computer

So I am looking to build a gaming desktop and I have to admit I am fairly new to this !

My first build is

CPU:Intel Skylake i7 6700K 4-Core 4GHz
Motherboard:Intel Z170 Chipset ATX Gaming Pro Edition
RAM:8GB DDR4 Dual Channel 2400MHz Red Series
Power Supply:850W 80 Plus Gold Modular
Primary Storage Device:500G SATA3 SSD
Second Storage Device:2TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 980 TI 6GB
Optical Drive:DVD Internal Writer
Network:WiFi Single Band N USB Adapter
CPU Cooler:Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance
Additional Fan:[2x] Additional Case Fan Blue LED
Case Lighting:Sleeved LED Cable 200CM Blue

$3400 Aus

Is this build any good and worth the cost ? Would I be better off going with a 6GB or a 4GB Gpu ?

Basically I am looking for a machine to run games at Ultra settings so if you have any ideas or a much better build I would love to hear it. Also my budget is around the $3000 mark (Aus$).
 
If you aren't going to be editing and rendering you'll be better off with a i5-6600K and a standard 4GB GTX 980.

Of course, I'd do that to save money.
For the equivalent of $850AUD I built a computer that runs max settings at a minimum of 45FPS. With newer titles and more demanding software, it won't be capable of the same rates.

It looks like you may be buying this pre-built, but if you aren't get a Corsair CX600M or 750M as 850W is overkill :p

You can build a PC for half that and run games at maxed settings man...my rig is only valued at about $850 and I run games liked BF4 and BFH in pretty much maxed settings and getting a min of 30fps. I put together a build for you which is about half that and WILL give you great gaming performance. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/KvHcK8

I just got one question though :)

Because I live in a hot area (Middle of the desert) It can get fairly hot (38c- 41c) so what type of fan cooling and cpu cooling should I be looking at ?

I have also chosen to go with Nvidia GTX 980 4GB OC Edition and Intel Skylake i5 6600K 4-Core 4GHz

Still looking around at other parts and what not :)


Should I get something like the
Corsair Hydro H110i GT Liquid Cooler or more Corsair Hydro Series H55 Liquid Cooler ?

I'd make some changes to that. I'm not sure why you are buying a 120GB SSD for $100, as you can buy a 250GB SSD for the same price, and I would not recommend that you go any lower than 250GB. Second, I wouldn't buy a $100 water cooling kit for a $220 processor. You would be much better off getting an i7 4790K and using a cheap aftermarket cooler for the same price. And if you are spending over $1,600 for a gaming PC, it better have at least 16GB of RAM.

Try and get as much case fans as you can but not to the point where it's cluttering your pc...I live in a pretty hot place too (Caribbean) and it does get pretty hot here too and what I have done is got a bigger regular fan, I think it's called the wind shield or something, and I have just placed it in front on my pc where the two intakes are positioned to make sure all the airflow they are getting is generally pretty cool. Work fine for me, never had any heating problems or whatever so I'll keep this set up for now :p. And for the CPU cooler I'd go with the best cooler you can get. Obviously the H55 is older than the H110i GT, so logic would tell you to go with the H110i but it's all up to what's in your budget; both are pretty good coolers :)

I was looking for the better brands and the brands I use...I'm sure you can get better for your buck but this is what I'd go for. And for the CPU, I don't personally go for anything higher than an i5 because I feel the i7's are for much more demanding tasks such as rendering, editing etc. I used that cooler for max overclocking settings...I'm sure you could get a cheap air cooler but I'd go with liquid 9/10. Thanks for your input though Geoff! I'll make sure to consider your points next time I do a build :)
