Help Me Buy a New Laptop? :D

I need some help buying a new laptop! I am hardware illiterate!

I am not sure what things I should look for or how different components compare to others.

I am going to spend $600 or less. I am looking for something for school but I no longer have a desktop so it needs to be powerful enough to handle downloading some movies (I won't be storing them on the laptop), as well as handle some simple games such as Flash games and some low end Steam games like Counter-Strike.

This needs to completely replace my desktop.

It also has to be available on Futureshop.ca as that is the only store close to my house that sells laptops.

The 4 that I've been mostly looking at are:
Toshiba Satellite 15.6" Intel Core i3-370M Laptop (C650-05X) $549.99
Dell Inspiron 15.6" Intel Core i5-2410M Laptop (NB15-N51106G) $569.99
Gateway 15.6" AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N970 Laptop (NV53A06H) $569.99
Gateway 15.6" Intel Core i7-2670QM Laptop (NV57H14H) $599.99

I understand that i7 is better than i5 and i5 is better than i3, but I have no idea how the AMD Phenom II Quad-Core fits in.

Those are the ones I've been looking at but I am not limited to those, just limited in my mind as I don't know what to look for.

i wouldn't buy any gateways, and since the dell's i5 is also the newer generation of them it is double better than the i3.

I don't know if this helps but this seems to be a newer model of the toshiba and on newegg it seems to be cheaper.... Don't want you to over pay!

If is me, I will take that i7 laptop anytime over the others. but they say gateway don't have quality build, but I have 2 Gateway over 6 years old and still kicking, they are the hardest working laptop in my house.
