Defintitely get the laptop. So much easier to just pack up and go between college and home.

Get the EEE Asus PC 8GB HDD with 1gb ram and boot xp on it from a disc (Make sure the processer on it is not CELERON!)

depends what college purposes tho. i would like to be able to use 3ds max haha.and that would run much better on a faster cpu.

laptop definitely. I wanted to build a desktop for college during the summer, but I'm glad I went with the laptop. The portability aspect is amazing, and plus its very handy (I'm sure you knew that already). Personally, I would like to build a computer of my own for me to play video games, but now that I have joined a frat. I am mostly playing Xbox and stuff like that ( I hope that doesn't kill my PC gaming roots)
