Hi,

Here is my situation. We have a ADSL line and a Netgear DG834G V3 router. The router is in the office the opposite side of the house and I have two ethernet cables going to my room. Every night, my Mum comes up and switches the router off before she goes to bed (I scream and shout when I disconnect from xbox live half way through a match on MW2 :@ ).

There is no way of getting anymore cables, undetected from the office to my room. I'm just wondering, if there is any other way, for me to connect my computer and xbox to the internet as well as keeping the other router connected?

So far, the only solution that I have though of is splicing the cable either end of an ethernet and pretty much turning it into a telephone line. In which, I could then plug into a telephone line 'splitter', a filter and then on my end of the cable, another router of some sort. Will this work? if so, instead of me doing a DIY job of this, are there proper adapters that I can buy for it?

Thanks
JM

Your telling me, she insists that it switched off at night. Her reasoning being power usage and she reckons it's a fire hazard. No matter how much I tell her it uses next to no power and the hottest it gets is luke warm, she still does it. >_>

Wow, by that logic i guess you'd better unplug your telephone, tv set, dvd player, computer, fridge, oven..

maybe you should turn the water off at night art the basement shutoff too!!

Wow..sorry you have to deal with that---I had a buddy whose dad was like that too..

cheap on an epic scale!
