help me... disk read error..

hi ..

i have a Dell optiplex GX270 cpu currently running with windows xp OS servicepack 3version. pentium 4 processor 2.80 Ghz RAM 1GB and 2.79 GB.


whenever i try to boot my system,it says the following :

" a disk read error occured . Press alt+ctrl+del to restart "

i tried alt +ctrl+del to restart but it again gives me the same message after rebooting..what should i do?

pleas e help me...

This one varies, can either be :

a damaged partition
windows not bootable
Hard drive no longer working
BIOS not detecting your drive

It depends, boot off the cd and see if you have the repair option first.
