Hello,
I have a problem with my computer. I have an FIC AN11 motherboard, AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Processor, 512Mb PC3200 DDR ram, 60 Gig Western Digital HDD, ATI Radeon 9100 128Mb DDR graphics card, Antec 430 Watt PS, & a DVD/CD-RW drive. I am running Windows XP Home edition with SP1.
This system worked great, no problems, until. . .. It still works great now, but when I try to play a video game (Unreal Tournament, Max Payne, Hitman 2, Microsoft Rise of Nations), I sometimes get the blue screen of death & my computer restarts. Then sometimes the game just shuts off & my desktop is showing. The games will run for a little while(not an exact amount of time, it differs), but then my mouse & keyboard freeze. The game is still going on & my character can still be shot, hurt, or whatever, then I get the blue screen or the game just exits.
At the time, I was able to dual boot either to Windows 98 or XP. So I tried all of my games on Windows 98. The same thing happened! Then I formatted my HDD & re-installed Windows XP, still, the same Thing is happening!!!
All other programs work great! It's just when I am trying to game. I have also turned the resolution way way down, but it still does the same things!
Can someone tell me what I can do???

by a computer from me :) or upgrade your ram i sell it real cheap. It may help, or you could try installing only one at a time and see mayb one is a problem ?

he has plenty of RAM... i just dont know what the prob is, plenty of ram, good processor, i really can't think of anything that could go wrong... what screen resolution are you running? that could be a/part of the cause.

That's screaming "HEAT" at me. Or rather, "OVERHEAT"

What HSF do you have the chip? If it's stock I'd reccomend you upgrade to something more capable. Some ideas to start you off: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/81431

do you get artifacts whil running game? if your not overclocked and this still happens..then you gotta upgrade from stock cooling likkke Praetor said. some vid cards come with the crappiest heatsinks...others just get too hot for a lil' aluminum slab.

Sometimes it's just a case of a severely overclocked videocard that has "burned out" and now has these problems forever... sometimes you can minimize them by downclocking them but thats not guaranteed

Yeah but aluminum can "take it" a lot better than copper :P
