it wasn;'t a 6800 is was a 6800le which is not the same. There isn't much difference between the 6600gt and the 6800le, if fact the 6600gt may come out just on top.
But on the plus side, you could probably unlock some of the pipes in the 6800le, and overclock it to something like that of the 6800

ok. Wot bout the x700 256mb, aint that any good.
Ive heard good things about the 6600gt. Im looking to play WoWso this shud hopefully do, along with upgrading ram, motherboard and processor

suggest you get the regular 6800, its still cheaper than the 6800le, you have. Well if you do go with, either the 6600gt or 6800le. Definitely not ati, no SM 3.0 support nor FP32, it'll probably offer better performance now, but in the future, not worth it. The 6800le, you can unlock the pipes, some get 16, but 12 to match the regular 6800 would do. Should be able to, most are. But if you don't want to oc it, than get the 6600gt. Good choice.

ok thx, ive narrowed it down to the 6800 and 6600, is it easy to overclock the 6800le, do i use the geforce tweak utiliy or is it a bit more advanced than that

how is the normal 6800 (117 pounds) cheaper than the 6800le (103 pounds)

Either 6600gt or 6800 would be good.
6600GT Pros:
GDDR3 memory
Cons:
8-pixel line
128-bit memory interface

6800 NOT THE LE Pros:
12-pixel lines
256-bit memory interface
Cons:
DDR-memory

6800LE Pros:
256-bit memory interface
Cons:
DDR-memory

X700Pro Pros:
256-bit memory interface
256MB memory
Cons:
Lack of SM 3.0 and FP 32 support

The X700 would be the fastest, but the lack of SM 3.0 and FP 32 support would mean you would have to play future games without eyecandy. THe 6800 is second best, but since it useds DDR memory it means you can't run highest details, but future games at medium settings and high detail would run good. The 6800LE, same thing, but it has less pipelines, if you are ABLE to oc, it'll be cheaper than getting the 6800, and getting the same performance. The 6600GT, would be a very good choice, only downside is the lack of 256-bit interface, which means it might be slower. But it;ll work also. The 6600 is a very low clocked version of the 6800, but only has 8 pixel lines like the 6800le, and no pipelines to be oced. Ideally the best choice would be x700pro for today performance. Either the 6600gt or 6800 (6800LE if you oc) if you want for tomorrow. The too are around equal. 6600GT, if it had 256-bit memory interface would be the optimum card. The 6800 would be the best choice if it had GDDR3. PErformance wise, the 6800 pulls ahead in certain games and so does the 6600gt. If you want a card that has both GDDR3, 256-bit interface, and 256MB memory along with SM 3.0 and FP32 support along with 16 pipelines, you would grab the 6800gt. But its 212 pounds.

(Most people buy the 6600gt over the 6800le and 6800, because the 256-bit and 12 pixel lines over the 128-bit and 8 pixel lines isn't very high considering the core clock and memory clocks are lower on the 6800. ) I'm not so sure about this statement. I know a lot of ppl with 6600gts, but i dk if they would rather get the 6800.
