I'll start out by saying: I'm rather clueless when it comes to technical terms and numbers. Recently, my Emachines t1742 power supply died, and took the motherboard with it. I wanted to look for a replacement, but my research tells me that they no longer make the right motherboard. I was wondering if there's a generic motherboard that will fit my case and requirments. If not, could i have a few links to good places to get a cheap (0-$400) computer? Thanks in advance.

I can't say for sure with that particular model, but I know the first emachines used standard ATX power supplies. Worst case, you might need a new case(if the old used a smaller than standard power supply), but basically any ATX power supply should work...
