what does it mean when it says SUPPORTED MAXIMUM MEMORY? because i only have 2 SLOTS

its says:

SUPPORTED MAXIMUM MEMORY: 4GB
MEMORY SLOTS: 2

and i am running a ACER ASPIRE 5050-5951

please i need help i am so confuse

it means that the mobo can support up to 4gb of memory, but you wont need anymore than 2gb for xp
