both of the above notebook are same price
around rm3000 or 1000us dollar.
i am in malaysia
keyfeature: must be fast when using photoshop, dreamweaver, mozila firefox, microsoft word 2007 at the same time....

But compaq is not a really good brand.

......

compaq are now owned by HP.... surely the laptops are going to be of similar quality... compaq are specialists in laptops if i am correct... how can they "not really be a good brand"?

and after looking at the laptops, they are both very similar, it really comes down to what you want to do with them. imo the Compaq has the better processor, and the HP has an oldish 6150 geforce go graphics card at 64mb =/
but the compaq runs off of an intel graphics media accelerator.

from the looks of it, i think the compaq would be your better option, and imo it looks nicer too. and it has a larger screen by 2", that'll make quite a difference when youre trying to see things on screen i think.

I am not sure what model sell in Malay. Here is some basic 'rules' I choose lappy
Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM +
Delicated GPU.

Really? Just from experenice from myself and friends. Also, one of my cousin who is in business of repairing laptop. So far, the brand I come across with includes Fujitsu, Toshiba, Sony, dell, compaq, HP, Asus, Acer, IBM (Lenovo).
IMO,
Fujitsu, Toshiba, Lenovo have better quality.
Sony is OK and good looking.
dell/ Acer is cheap.
Asus is good for gaming. Heard some ppl say it is hot, but it is OK for me.
HP/ compaq to me is not the best quality or cheapest or good looking...

both of the laptop same price, but the hp pavillion has touch screen but compaq do not have it...
however, is it the hp compaq ladtop is faster than the hp pavillion?
intel is much faster than amd? how much is the difference (speed)?
what is the best choice?

Among those 2, compaq is better as CPU is better. However, both have intergated GPU, may be a bit weak for your photoshop application.

for photoshop application, what notebook should i choose? price below 1400 us....
i am poor.....
ha...ha....
tq for replying me.....

Just get a macbook they are like 999$. PS doesn't depend on graphics as its a 2d program and it really only uses ram and cpu. On the macbook you get 2gb ram and a 2.2ghz core 2 duo cpu I think which is really good for PS. I had an old vaio running Pentium M with 1gb ram and it was fine so this one will be no hassle for PS

I'll post the same thing I did in the other thread.

Laptop.jpg

Since that isn't that easy to read, here are some of the specs:
- C2D 2.4 ghz
- 100gig 72200rpm
- 4gigs of ram
- 15.4" screen at 1920x1200
- agn wireless, good gpu, dual layer dvd, wwan, bluetooth, finger printer reader, card reader etc etc.

You can also configure the settings how ever you'd like.

Hope that helps
Bob

Compaq laptops may not be as good as the IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad, but Compaq and Acer tend to use better components in terms of speed and performance (don't expect the fastest) for less than than the mainstream budget laptops (the cheaper Dells) that people usually buy. A certain Dell Inspiron laptop I've seen had 512 MB memory, 1GHz Intel Celeron, 120GB hard drive and just a CD rewritable and a DVD reader--the thing doesn't write DVDs. The keyboard feels cheap and is like a fat boy on a sheet of half-inch particleboard. The Acer laptop (Aspire) has 1 gig memory, 2GHz Intel Pentium dual core, 160 gb hard drive and a DVD rewritable (SuperMulti drive) for less than $10 more than the Dell. Compaq laptops are just as good.

I personally dont like intel that much but that compaq is way faster than that hp!! I like hp but that processor is way to slow.

I don't know if that was in direct response to what I posted above, but the IMB/ Lenovo I spec'd is one heck of a deal. Even if the IMB is a little more for the same parts then a Acer or Hp etc, I would still gladly pay the premium for the superior quality of the IBM.

actually i dont think photoshop utilizes dual cores meaning that the HP would be the faster computer (by a little probably not noticeable fraction). It all depends on what you need to be using the laptop for...

for shangfatts needs... i would suggest the HP...

EDIT: if you dont need a windows computer... why not consider a macbook like Kill Bill suggested..
