I am currently looking to build a computer with a budget of $2200 (flexible). And I have a couple questions.

First, here are the parts I am looking to include. This will be a gaming rig.

1. Most importantly, do all of these parts work well together? Will I have compatibility issues?
2. If I were to get a second gtx 680, would the power supply I currently have selected be powerful enough?
3. Should I switch out the ssd for a cheaper one in order to possibly afford another gtx 680?
4. Other suggestions? Any things that are just soo cool I just HAVE to add?

As a side note, I have a 2 Tb external hdd for storage.
 
everything there looks good, but there are some things to consider.

1. If your main purpose is gaming, go to the 3570k. It will perform as good as a 3770 in games because almost no games use more than 4 threads.

2. 512GB is unneeded on the SSD. 256 is plenty, unless you plan to put multiple OSes on it.

3. You need a hard drive to go with your SSD. I would not recommend the external drive for that. You can get 1TB drives for $79.99 at newegg.
 
those drives look good. You can have a better SSD though. The Samsung 840pro (PRO not the plain 840) for example, or the Sandisk Extreme. Both have better random (what makes it seem fast in the OS) and read speeds.
HDD is fine. Its the one I have.

Your PSU should be fine.
 
Since it's Newegg, you should have eblast promos. There's one for this ps. Its a bit better than HX and only $90 (today only).

Since they build them, can also get the needed cables individually and tell them to put SeaSonic connectors, no extra charge.

There are some diffs, but don't know if block is improved over the other.

You're right I think I will go for the gtx 690. It has similar performance to two gtx 680s in sli, but it allows me to dream about 4way sli with a second 690 in the future. Probably wont happen in reality,but I can dream right?

Im guessing that my selected power supply would not scale to two gtx690s?
 
750w is fine for just one 690, but for two I wouldn't go any less than 1000. 1100-1200 is ideal to give yourself some headroom, especially if you'll be OCing. Each 690 uses approx 300w at stock, and up to 350+ when OC'd, so keep that in mind.
