Ok....i've looked all over the internet and I can't figure out what is going on..perhaps someone could give me some suggestions.

I recently noticed that my cpu fan was getting noisy so I checked the bios to make sure that my CPU temp wasnt getting crazy...to my disapointment it was at a whopping 70C. Now from the information i know, that is not a good thing...especally considering it is that high during the computers idol.

I have a 3.4 ghz prescott processor, which is notorious from what ive gathered to overheat but not this much.

I have checked the heatsink to make sure its on right and have more than good venting.....can someone tell me if im gonna kill my cpu and what the heck is causing this :(
 
LOL im having a conversation with myself here but yes i have reset the hs and yes i have tried using thermal paste
 
3.4 GHz prescot you say?
maybe you should get a better cooler ;)
the coolermaster hyper 48 is a real good one.. unfortunately its quite heavy.

again, the prescott only had real heat issue on the s478. The lga775 ironed out those issues.

And it was pretty easy to keep the Pressy under control with a basic aftermarket cooler :)
