I'm actually looking for advice here, too.

I want a solid mobo with a decent intel processor, but im not looking to spend over $200.

My question is- I know I will be buying a dual core for that price. Would you guys recommend just saving some more bills up for a mobo with a core 2 quad or maybe an i7?

I am not looking for too much high end performance, but will i get any legit performance if I stick with a duo core?

You should be making your own threads instead of hijacking others. Since you probably didnt know that, I would save for a Q6600 and P45 chipset mobo like mine. They are more then I ever ask for and I'm an intense gamer :). Im not a big fan of the i7's since they arent worth the money yet. The increase in gaming Im not sure about but if you like you could always wait a couple months and see then.

Hi i'm building a new gaming rig and need to buy a mobo cpu combo so i need some advice on what to buy.

this is what i'm lookin at. got a budget of about 150 or so for the combo.

any advice would be great thanks

None of those motherboards have a PCI-Ex16 2.0 slot which is ideal for a good gaming experience :(. I almost missed that. $150 is really too little for the 2 most important parts in your computer. I'd save another hundred and get something solid like what I recommended for UglyBoyFloyd. Dual-cores are old news imo and it would be wiser to just get a quad core. In the end its your decision, some dual-cores are completely beast in games.

It was a pertinent question... didn't mean to "hijack" this thread. So, sorry to the OP for stealing your thunder. I figured while people are offering their opinions, they might be able to add a bit for my situation.

For the next one ;) I appreciate your input, Zero.

Edit: See, it was pertinent. ^^^

I would pick gigabyte's p45 UD3 series paired with an e8400

I know where I can get the CPU, but how about that board? I looked on Gigabyte's site, found the mobo, looked for stores that supposedly carried it but found nothing. Are there any similar boards I could look into?

kinda missed my question.. i have around $150 for mobo and cpu... all i need to know is out of the three what would be the best buy?

$150 will not get you a gaming-worthy mobo/cpu.
Hate to say, but your cheapest bet for gaming would be
E7300
and
MSI P43
Just under $200, but a stable , good rig.
