Reason why it is so tough is that there are like 6 different versions of that board according to HP so finding the right pdf is going to depend on which of those you have... They are all similar boards made by ASUS but don't try to find them on the ASUS site as these are custom built motherboards for HP/Compaq.

What I would do is take a diagram of the connections and write it all down or as you say photo it before you pull it.

HP has a specifications page with some info and diagrams but it isn't very detailed as far a things like f-panel pin out or anything like that..

I did a pretty decent search and the only thing I found was the leonite version of that P5LP-LE in PDF.

I know this is a little more work than what you probably want, but when I was 16 and made my first move like that, I knew nothing about computers, I just wanted a cool looking case. So what I did is used little round stickers and numbered the cables and the sockets on the board. So then I knew cable 1, went to socket 1, etc...

You might have some problems trying to hook up the new case connections to the motherboard if Hp used one single connection instead of multiple connections like a new case will have along with the case usb connections as well. You might have to do some modding to the connections to get it to work correctly. If I were you I would most likely spend the 60-70 Dollars on a new motherboard that will allow you to upgrade your processor if you wanted to.

yeah the stickers might have worked if we didnt already try to move the damn thing, it was 2-3 hours later in three forums that no one replied we said F it lets try...and we failed...hard.

im able to read the little diagram on the motherboard but i dont know how its supposed to be read. Maybe if anyone could help me find a way to understand the diagram I wouldnt be comp-less <3
