Hi guyz,

this is my pc configuration

Intel 3.06 GHz HT
VIA 915 Chipset
256 MB DDR RAM
256 MB GeForce FX 5200 8x AGP Card
80 GB Samsung SATA
CDRW and DVD-ROM
Running Win XP Pro SP2

The booting time is too long and it is the same when shutting down too!

even opening a word document takes a really long time!!

Please Help!!

256Mb of ram is really not enough.. you need 512Mb+ in order to run windows xp. my pc uses 380Mb constant ( surely a lot of addware and such by now, but that not the point ;) )
but get another 256Mb ram extra will help a lot ( and like meanman pointed out, 1Gb would be the best, there isnt much of a difference between 1Gb and more tough when youre not gaming much,.. so if you have 1Gb, you'll be more than fine )

Has this computer always run this slow or have you used this computer for a long time and it just now started to slow down. Windows XP can run on as little as 64 mb of ram. However, it is recommended to run it with at least 128 mb of ram or more. The problem with running it on a low amount of ram is that a small amount of malware can slow the computer down and make it run slow. I if you want to keep running 256mb of ram you need to make sure you keep up with basic computer maintenance such as running a anti virus program, a spyware sweeper and maybe a firewall. Also you need to make sure you run disk defragmenter and disk clean up often.
Take a look at our security section for tips in how to keep your computer clean.

try disabling any unused hardware on CMOS.

And that is going to help how? and you mean BIOS, hopefully... I would either reccomend a new computer with a Core 2 Duo ( i just like them, and that system is getting outdated fast) or at least a gig of RAM. Even if it is cheap, slow stuff, it is what you need.
