I just put together a new comp with a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR mobo and a AMD Athlon 64 3500+. once i had the computer mostly put together (e.g. floppy, cd drive, hard drive, ram, processor, PS) and i realized that there is NO WAY TO CONNECT A MONITOR to the board. so, i just slipped in my evga geforce 7800gt and attached my LCD monitor to that, with an adapter. but when I powered up the sysetm all the fans and everything went on, but there was no activity on the monitor. and the cd drive wouldnt open when i pushed the button. and the "diagnostic LEDs" all went on and stayed on, indicating that the system was still at the earliest start up phase and hadnt recognised the prossesor, RAM, or VGA. Help!

1. What core rev is the 3500?
2. Reseat the RAM
3. Did you connect the ATX12? The FDD Power? The extra molex? :)

well 1. u sure all ur pins are connected right to ur mobo?
2. ofcorse these is no slot to plug in ur monitor becuase im pretty sure that it doesnt have intergrated graphics. make sure that the 4pin connectors are all securly inserted in the drives.
3. i just might be ur mobo.
4. ur cd drives wont open? are they new? check the power cabled connected to them, if they still wont open, then somin might be wrong with the motor inside.. i presume....

it turns out it was the fracking 4 pin 12v connector, i forgot to connect it!
i was able to fix the problem and now the system goes to the CMOS with out incident.

but now the comp dosent recognise the OEM 200gb sata maxtor hard drive. i have the sata cable connected to the drive and motherboard and i have the powercable connected from the PS to the Hard drive. any ideas?

-. Lets work on the spelling ... at 15 it's not that difficult a task :)
- The 4pin molex's on the drives wont affect the video being displayed
- If the motor on the optical drive doesnt work then that doesnt help isolate the problem with the video

Score :) Glad I could help

Try a different SATA connector ... im guessing you've got the SATA line connected to the RAID controller which IIRC is default disabled

i dont know anything about RAID but i connected the sata to sata connecor 1 and i have tried connecting it to 2 & 4. in fact when i turn on the comp the hard drive dosent even seem to rotate or shake or turn on or anything. my comp gets to the cmos and when i put in the windows xp disk it reads it and starts the install but the install stops because it dosent detect any hard drives, and when i try to use the cmos to set it up, the cmos cant detect the hard drive either. what do i do?

Well there are 8 SATA lines split into two blocks ... and you've tried one SATA block ...

:)

so if i plug the drive into sata 5-8 then perhaps it could work that way? i actually bought a seagate sata drive and attemped to plug that in, the mobo didnt recognise that drive either. and how do i get the cmos to activate the other sata block?
