Help. My FX-6300 is slower than my Phenom ii x4 955 was at 4ghz

What gives? I just got this new processor and it's getting like 25% worse performance in games. The bios is F2. Do I need chipset drivers or something? Running GA-990FXA-UD3 board and Windows 10 64 bit.

Did you install all of the motherboard drivers? The fx6300 is only slightly better then the 955, so really not much of an improvement. What is the rest of your specs? ram and motherboard.
 
Check and see what clock speeds your seeing on the cores when you're using it. You can use HWMonitor or CPU-Z for that. The 6300 at stock is 3.5GHz and has a 4.1GHz turbo. Might not have turbo enabled.

The 6300 is a good bit faster than the Phenom II 955 anyway, at least at stock. I bet you've got a software issue going on.

For comparison's sake check this out. Hard to benchmark comparison's with an overclocked chip but this should give you an idea.
