I try to start it up, it gets to the windows loading screen, and loads until it eventually freezes but it dosn't get to the sign on screen. I don't have the re-install disc, and if I did I really don't want to use it because, I have extremely important files on it and I don't wanna delete them!!

Does anyone know wats up with it? Its a Toshiba Satellite A200-SC3: Intel® T5550 1.83Ghz, 2GB, 200GB, Windows Vista Home

Any help is greately appreciated!!

No, It lets me get to that options part to select if I want to boot safe mode... but it won't finish loading :S

Start by running a disk diagnostic on your drive to check it for errors. What brand hard drive is in it?

Hmm, I would also try last know configuration. that has worked for me once before. Also May as well check your RAM with memtest86 or by removing one stick at a time and seeing if it helps.

How would I run a diagnostic? :( I'm not even sure of the brand its the stock one with the toshiba:confused:

my memory failing could be the problem?

Go into the bios setup and it should give you the model number of the hard drive. You run the diagnostic by download the drive makers utility and burning it to a cd and then booting to the cd to run the tests. I doubt you have a memory problem. Most likely its either an HDD problem or dodgy driver loading up.

Have you tried last known good config as Brian has suggested?

Ya I just tried last known good Config, and the same thing still, gets to that loading screen but never loads. no, not to the black screen with mouse pointer.

this is the model number: Toshiba MK2035GSS-(S1)

nice! thanks a lot John! I downloaded, burned, booted on my laptop, now i'm just waitin...

should I have changed it to boot from disc first, then hdd second?

it showed some stuff that it hasnt before... and now its at the loading screen for windows again...

Yeah, you should have changed the boot order to boot to cd first. You said it showed stuff that it hasn't before, what did he show on the screen?

ok i changed the boot order, it booted from disc, but it says this...

"Realtek blah blah
media test failure: check cable
Exiting PXE Rom"

and just repeated 3 times.

You need to disable network boot/lan boot. Whatever option the bios has. Go into the bios and see if it detects the hard drive.

ohh ok i Disabled it. It did something then it went to a screen where i can chose to start windows vista, or a tool. windows memory diagnostic tool and nothing is being found wrong.

Hmm. May be time to loan a vista DVD and boot off of it to be able to use the repair function. It will not delete your data but it will let you fix the boot or any bad files
