Help my PC talk to my Samsung S4 Mini

Hi all

I need some software to enable me to connect my Windows 7 PC to my Samsung S4 Mini.

Samsung make available some software called Kies, but the version I downloaded from Samsung's website tries to install about 7 different unrelated pieces of software. I could prevent 5 of them installing but two seemed compulsory. I also tried downloading the same thing from Softonic but that too seemed to try installing all sorts of other stuff that I didn't want (something called Imminent which sounded like bad news).

Do I have to use Kies or can someone suggest an alternative. If I have to use Kies can someone tell me where I can install just Kies and not a load of other stuff that I don't want / need?

Thanks

You didn't tell us what you're trying to accomplish when you connect your phone to your PC.

It's my wife's phone and it's acting up after she dropped a tin of baked beans on it!

The internal memory is full because, since the above accident, it keeps replicating image and music files filling the internal storage area. My wife would normally be able to delete them from within the phone, but because the memory is so full, Android keeps crashing every time you try and do something. I therefore want to do it outside of the phone.

When I connect the phone to the PC via USB, the computer "sees" it but cannot access any areas.

Thanks for any thoughts

I cannot do anything from within the phone.

There are a load of files it has created in error and the storage area is too full for Android to operate effectively.

I can see no other way than connect the phone to my PC and remove the dud files to reclaim the space..

I said take the memory card out of the phone. The little chip that stores all this data. Then use a card reader and connect it to your computer.
