hi i`ve just tried installing some kingston value ram (2x1gb pc2 5300 - kvr667d2n5k2/2g) into my asus p5b mobo. this is my first time doing this so i don`t want to break anything, but i can't slot the ram into place it'll fit in the socket but it won't slot in properly and i can't close the locks! should i push harder or does my ram just not fit?

RAM is generally hard to get in, Are you sure it's the right type, is it compatable with your MOBO?

If it is, just press harder, do one side at a time and press it firmly so the clasps go down, once you've done one side do the other. :)

Look and see if the the bumps in slot line up with the notches in the RAM. If not, just take a pair of wire cutters and snip holes where the notches should be to make it fit.

(JOKING!)

If it doesn't fit the notches, you bought the wrong ram.

It takes a bit of force to get it to lock in but if it's not going zaroba is probably right in suggesting you have them backwards.
