Help...Need to reload Windows 98

Need to reload Windows 98

I am not worried about the info on the pc, have all the Cd's to do it. Its a Dell Inspiron 5100 I think.


How do you do it? I tried to search plz don't flame me if I didn't type the write thing and if this isn't the right section can a mod put it in the right place. Thanks
 
First, you have to boot from the CD. Go into BIOS (Usually the delete key when you see the dell logo) and set "Boot Priority" to "Boot from CD".

Restart the system and be sure you have the CD in. It should boot from the CD. Then, just follow the install steps.

If you are unable to boot from CD, you must boot from a windows 98 startup disk (Presumably when you first installed windows because it tells you to make one). Boot that floppy with CD-ROM support. Insert the CD and at the prompt where it says A:>, type "D:\" (without ") and then type install. Just follow the install instructions from there.

I would get a external case and back up and files or folders you have before you do it.
