Help Needed - Broken Laptop Screen

Howdy, hopefully someone here can help me with a little predicament... About a month ago I bought a new HP Pavilion laptop, a dv6000t series to be exact. [EXACT MODEL HERE] Unfortunately though there was a small accident and I have broken the LCD display on the laptop. All other components work except the display.

So since it is not under warranty, HP want me to pay $800 to get the damn thing fixed. Now I know how to install a new laptop display, but my question is that does anybody happen to know whether if I were to but something like this, whether it's going to work on my laptop? That particular one is the same type (Pavilion), but unfortunately not the same model and series. But it's the same screen size and specs, so I'm hoping it will.

Essentially the question I'm asking is, when it comes to 15.4" laptop displays, do all displays happen to fit into any laptop or does every model laptop have different places for screws and display sizes and stuff.

Thanks.

It's not the same model. It's a 3000 series. They're all called Pavilion, even the desktops. Have you opened your laptop up to see if its connector matches the one pictured there?

Yeah I realise mine is the 6600 series, I just thought there was Compaq and Pavilion and mine was a Pavilion like that screen.

Unfortunately I can't check the connection at this time as my laptop is currently at HP's service center because they take it there to determine whether the warranty is valid. I'd say that it's the same kind of connector, but I will find out soon.

I edited it to say what I meant. :)

Their desktop models are called Pavilion too. It's just a word they use with anything media-oriented.

I had a dv6308nr laptop for a while. It had a long, thin black display connector under the left speaker (when facing the laptop and looking at the screen). The display was held in place by two hinges, which were seperate units and attached to the sides of the display with two small screws on each side. My display was also 15.4". It also had the wireless antennas taped to the back of it, the mic, and an empty slot that I believe was for a webcam.

If I still had it I'd take a picture.

Why not ask the computer shop if it's compatible?
