Help needed for connecting computer to TV

So basically, i do not have a s-video thing on my desktop

So i ordered a VGA RCA cable that looks like the thing that connects monitor to computer, but on the other end, it's for TV.

When i connected the desktop to TV using that cable, screen came up but it's black and white, and seperated (or destroyed...) in three screens and i cannot read or see anything clear.

I need to know what i need and what i need to do in order to connect my desktop with VGA output(?) to a TV

Please help~~
 
what is it VGA on one end and composite on the other or is it double vga?

not that it matters much...

Assuming you have the input on the tv set right, i would play around with the resolution, you might have a bad cable.
