HELP needed Purchased eMachines EL1850-01e

Okay I am having some trouble and I was not sure where this thread fits in..

So here is my situation I got a eMachines EL1850-01e purchased for me and I only have ran it for 2 months before things started acting up.. it is now month 4 and tried tons of stuff to fix it. (Geek squad wants $200 to fix it.. the computer only cost $290!!)

Okay so here are the issues I am having.. When I run programs for example Mozilla Firefox I will be in the middle of working and bam locks up for a couple minutes. the java video plugin fails often. My computer is just all around slow!

I have microsoft security essentials, I have ran a registry cleaner, everything is really slow compared to the first day I got this. Also another note it locks up on me when I try and defrag the computer.

System specs
Windows 7
Intel Celeron proccessor 450 (2.0ghz+)
Intel GMA x4500 graphics card
500GB hard drive (not nearly full)
2gb DDR memory

I have very little money.. I was wondering if there is a free program that could fix this.. I ran Glarity Utilities and it worked super fast and great for about a week then started acting up again.

Thanks for the help.

Please start by doing the following. Lets make sure its not a malware issue.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

It doesn't look like its malware related.

Do you have the cd's to reinstall windows or a recovery partition to boot to?

Was it used? I would definitely reformat it if so.

What do you mean the hard drive is not nearly full? How full is it? Do you have any anti-virus running? I would trying running dskchk and memtest.

Couple questions!
I see in my HiJack files a Mcafee file is that messing with my microsoft security essentials? Also this is what windows is saying causing some errors

Windows is saying Address a problem with Bonjour, iMesh and java

Go into add/remove programs and uninstall anything that you don't use. You can get rid of mcafee security scan.

However, with the system freezing, it could be anything from a bad hard drive to a hardware issue. If it still under warranty send it in to get looked at.

i tried months back and they said you bought no warranty with this computer so it is going to cost $200 and I said some not so nice words and walked out.

Pc's bought from the store have a limited one year warranty. Call up emachines or email their support staff. You will need to provide your receipt to show them when you bought it.

Sorry I did not return and tell you guys I fixed the problem. I went to the local wal mart and bought a program called system suite 11 for $40 and now my computer works GREAT! Thanks for trying to help!

I think you have learned the lesson, but in the future I would stay away from e-Machines. They use poor quality parts in their builds.
