Hi. Im pretty much a novice when it comes to computer hardware. My little brother wants me to help him do up the computer so we can run the latest games. He also wants to play games online. We dont want it too shmick so itd cost us a fortune but we want the computer to run reasonably smooth. We are currently using the game Elder scrolls 4 oblivion as the benchmark. bellow are the requirements I found on the internet for the game.

Minimum System Requirements
System: 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
Video Memory: 128 MB
Hard Drive Space: 4600 MB
Other: Keyboard, Mouse
Recommended System Requirements
System: 3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
RAM: 1024 MB
Other: ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

He is also looking to be able to play worlds of warcraft online.

now the info on the front of my computer are as follows

Intel Pentium 4 processor 515

2.93GHz 1MB l2 cache
533 MHz FSB 90nm

512 mb
400 mhz ddr SDram memory

120gb
7200 RPM Serial ATA hard drive

Integrated Intel GMA 900 Graphis
128 dynamic video memory

Double layer (8.5GB) 8x dvd rw/r drive

my friend tells me I should get the following

ATI Radeon X800XL 256MB, 256-bit DDR3, AGP 8X 1Yr

INTEL Pentium 4 CPU 3.2Ghz 3.2 512k/800 Northwood 478

are these gonna be enough?
and what should I be looking for if I were to buy broadband. the primary reason is to play games so I just need to know what I should be looking for deal wise. ANY HELP WOULD BE MOST APRECIATED, THANKS!!!

What is the motherboard model? If you can't find that, then what is the brand and model number of your computer.

Oblivion is a very demanding game, the graphics card you have chosen should run the game smooth but not on ultra high settings and if you are just going to be gaming, go amd not intel. I would also reccomend at least 1GB of ram.

Ya I have Oblivion and I can tell you that those minimum specs are almost abolute minimum for the game to even run. I suggest 1GB RAM, my gfx card is an X800 Pro and it plays at mostly high quality settings on 1280x1024 res and I'm sure any card with similar performance can do just as good a job. If you dont have the money for the x800pro, my friend plays oblivion quite well with his X1600Pro but he plays at 1024x768.

That X800XL is pretty good and at default clocks it is faster than my card but mine is overclocked.

Also, what is your budget?
