Help needed with a Geforce 6600 GT

Im thinking of buying myself a handy new XpertVision GF 6600GT 256MB 128bit DDR3, AGP 8X. Only thing im not 100% sure it'll be compatiable with my PC Specs. My comp currently is: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz 32-BIT (Internal clock 3.0ghz and external clock 144mhz), 512MB ram, C.P. Technologies Inc. RADEON 9200SE 128MB AGP 4X, Gigabyte RZ Model P4M266A-8235 ISA, PCI, AGP 1x, 2x, 4x (4x enabled) apeture size 64mb. Would the grafix card be compatiable if not would a pci-express do the job.
 
pci Express wouldnt work, because you dont have the right kind of motherboard. the 600GT will work, only it will down its speed to 4x agp, which will make a pretty much unoticable difference
 
^^ if your going to buy a mid range cardd liek a 6600GT, i HIGHLY recomen you get another motherboard with AGP 8x. dont get a PCI-E 6600gt, they did worse than 8x agp for some strange reason. anyway, i HIGHLY recomend you get motherboard with AGP 8x, or else your wasteing your money. since your already wasting money getting a 6600 gt anyway.
 
why is he wasting his money getting a 660GT. And why would he need a new motherboard, there woudl be pretty much an unoticable difference between 4X AGP and 8X AGP. ive never noticed a difference

AGP 8x is SIGNIFIGANTLY faster than AGP 4x, hes wasting his money on a 6600 GT because it sucks all around. very FEW games run max settings with more than 30 fps (i know because iv had one before i got this x800 xl) for only another 50 bucks, he can pick up a x800 xl, xt pe, and see LOADS of diffrence. getting a new motherboard with a better FSB (like 800) with a new processor would eliminate bottlenecks completly!
 
And were exactly did you read those benchmarks?

My brother has a GeForce 4 Ti4600 AGP 4x, and it runs even new games at all medium, and thats just because of the card that it wont run them on high. So if you put in a 6600GT with twice the pipelines... I dont think your slot will be holding you back. Actualy I'm pretty sure of it.

On a side note i would just like to point out that the Ti4600 was insanely powerfull back in 2002. I wish I had that card on my computer :(

the geforce mx a good card? it wasnt good when it was released, but then again, neither were the 8000 series :P
 
OK but it doesnt say anything about AGP slot performence.
And the Ti series didnt suck, the Mx series did.

Believe me I wish I wasnt behind the time but how does a 12 yearold get money for a gaming rig?
 
Hey 1337cshacker about the "x800 xt pwning 6800u in ut04" thingy, UT2004 isn't really demanding when it comes to graphics. And the GF6600GT is a really good graphics card and it's got a nice price too...
 
1337cshacker u realy shouldnt talk if u have no experiance with shit. there is almost no noticable difference between 4x and 8x agp. and the 6600 gt is a awsome card.

No processor runs on 800 fsb!

The number may be double but the 8x is not signifantly better. It does double the bandwidth available, but graphics card still dont use the bandwidth afforded to them

for the price, its awesome indeed :)
and for PWNing the 6800ULTRA.. well.. only th x850xt (pe) is actually faster ;) (alaround ofcourse. there can be exceptions in some situations)

i diddnt say a processor ran at 800fsb, i said a 800fsb mobo, you can read? right?. me being wrong? where? oh no where? thats what i thought. someone claimed a 3 fps diffrence, when it in reality might be a 10-15 fps diffrence.
