Help needed with Trojan

Hi folks,

I'm having loads of trouble with a trojan at the moment which seems to be slipping under the virus scan radar. A lot of applications are being blocked, I can't connect with the microsoft website and my own domains (www.tom-davies.net) appears to have been compromised, to name but a few of the problems. It got to such a state that I was planning to re-install Vista, but to add insult to injury my DVD drive is refusing to read discs.

Any chance anyone can help?

Have you tried to install Malwarebytes on your computer? (www.malwarbyes.com)
That usually gets rid of everything.I would suggest doing that and seeing what happens..

Unfortunately it says the malwarebytes website can't be found, which has happened to a lot of sites ever since I got the virus

Well that sucks majorly.... Can you get onto AVG.com or Avast.com? If so, download their free versions and try to remove that annoying trojan with those.

Your host file is infected. You can start by cleaning that. If however you can't your computer totally clean then you can take the hard drive out and put it in another system and scan it that way.

Take the hard drive out of your system and put in a friends system or another one that you may have at home. Make sure the computer boots to the original drive, not the one you just put into it. Make sure the system has a fully updated malware and virus scanner available to use on your drive and scan it. It should find the offending files and delete them. Then put your drive back in your system and continue scanning with your own antivirus and malware programs, Malwarebytes and AVG preferrably.

But can't that potentially harm the other system when he hooks up the infected drive?

possibly but not most likely. I've had to do that procedure a few times with a friends computer and never got my system infected. It's either that procedure or your do a full formate and restore and lose data.
