Help needed

Hi guys, desperately need some help here and would really appreciate it. I recently bought GTA IV on my desktop from Steam, it's a Dell Inspiron 520, and it really won't run well at all. My computer has an i3 @ 3.2GHz, 12Gb RAM, 1Gb NVidia ENGTS450 graphics card and 2 full HD monitors. My hard drive isn't being over used or anything and I just can't understand why the game won't run smoothly.

Any suggestions? Thanks
 
Probably the graphics card. Are you trying to run the game on two monitors? What resolution are you trying to play at? What settings?

I'm not running it on both monitors, I have it on the one screen and the other is just empty. I have the graphics on full, but even when I turn it right down it runs the same.
 
Yeah I heard that GTA IV isn't a very well-optimised game so it requires a lot of graphics horsepower. The GTS 450 isn't a great card (I used to own one). What resolution are you playing at?
